Resumo
Como expresso claramente em seu título, o artigo discute a relação entre a obra de Marx e a de Espinosa. Em particular, o propósito é demonstrar, mediante uma análise imanente da obra de ambos os autores, mas também por recurso a interpretações diversas e consagradas a respeito dessa possível relação, que as ideias de Espinosa não são inconciliáveis com as de Marx. O primeiro passo para isso é a rejeição de que exista um antagonismo entre as obras de Hegel, filósofo que exerce influência expressiva sobre o pensamento de Marx, e Espinosa. Em seguida, demonstra-se que há conexões diversas possíveis no terreno ontológico, sobretudo no que se refere ao metabolismo entre sociedade e natureza. Por fim, o artigo demonstra como Marx permite ir além de Espinosa ao lidar criticamente com a sociedade capitalista.
